Project Crate Stocker
I built this page to document the transformation of our 1985 Camaro Z28 into an IHRA Crate Stocker. The Camaro will be running a 330HP Vortec 350. The car currently has a mild bracket 350 in it. I plan to have the Armstrong's do all machine work on the Crate Motor, which I am peiceing together by the way. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Hey All, It's been awhile since I last updated the site, but here's an update on the Camaro. We got the car to run 11.68@116, 1.55 60' when the index was still at 11.90, but since the index was dropped 11.70 we have been plagged with tranny problems. We put in a set of 4.88's and added some new Hoosier 30x9 radials. These paired up picked up most of the new et. We also have an ATI Treemaster in it now and a TH350 with ATI Compu-flow Valve Body. Hopefully we'll get the Armstrong boys to do the motor this winter and pick up the et we need now.
Right now we are in the process of painting the car. I am going with a Base-Clear Tri Tone scheme with Silver, Champagne and Burgandy. Note my actual Nova Scotia plate
CMY 305, neat huh?
Here's a pic of my Forged GM One peice seal crank
Here's my 906 casting Vortec Heads
Here's my 8.5" 10 Bolt for the car. It originally came from a 79 Camaro, So I have had to put all the brackets on it myself for it to bolt into the car. I am using the 8.5" because it's what I had around, and the Rotating and total weights are lighter than a 12 Bolt. I will be starting off with 4.56 gears and a 29x9 slick.
This is a pic of my Adjustable Torque Arm. I built it myself and the car goes straight and hooks good and consistently. It's adustable up front too, where it attaches to a fabbed crossmember that goes between the frame ties, which also houses my drive shaft loop. I'll have a better pic soon. I also sell these setups if anybody's interested, just email me.
Change in plans with the Tires/gears. I decided to go with 30x9 slicks and a 4.88 cog. Above is my new ET Drags on my 15x10 Draglites.
I had to make a little more room for the 30" sneakers.
